Php port Posted: 09 Aug 2009 08:40 AM |
Hi everybody,
I'll try to explain my problem as clear as possible.
My dad who's by now an old man, has worked his whole life with askSam, he collects books and art. Now I would want our family, and perhaps maybe more people, to be able to browse the database over the web. Since it's a little bit tougher to run asp apps on your linux server, I figured a php port would be a great gain, and maybe in popularity.
I am a Php developer and Linux server administrator, and I want to make a php port for this in my spare time. However I want to ask if there are any tips and tricks before I start my journey in to the database files. Any specific characters I could filter the database files on etc?
Any code would be welcome as I can read asp/c/c++.
I've read the sample apps page, and downloaded some code(http://developer.asksam.com/sampleapps.asp).
I also figured since you can export to odbc that would be a workaround as well, but that would need more effort, and in order to make things as 'user-friendly' as possible, I figured maybe there's a way I can make a php-askSam reader class myself.
Ok, so I'm looking forward for some tips/support.
Thanks for reading this. |
