FDA Requests Label Change for All Sleep Disorder Drug Products
|
FDA has requested that all manufacturers of sedative-hypnotic drug products, a class of drugs used to induce and/or maintain sleep, strengthen their product labeling to include stronger language concerning potential risks. These risks include severe allergic reactions and complex sleep-related behaviors, which may include sleep-driving.

FDA Approves Tykerb for Advanced Breast Cancer Patients
|
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has approved Tykerb (lapatinib), a new targeted anti-cancer treatment, to be used in combination with capectabine (Xeloda), another cancer drug, for patients with advanced, metastatic breast cancer that is HER2 positive (tumors that exhibit HER2 protein).

WinCo Foods Recalls Bread in California and Nevada
|
WinCo Foods announced today that it is voluntarily recalling several bread products packaged under the Cascade Pride label and sold at its WinCo Foods stores in California and Nevada. The Cascade Pride products, manufactured for WinCo Foods by Safeway Inc., may contain wire fragments from production machinery.

If finalized, the proposed rule would amend FDA's current regulations for the processing of low-acid canned foods such as beans, corn, peas, and potatoes, and clarify such requirements as recordkeeping and the rules for measuring and recording temperatures during processing. The proposal also includes metric equivalents of avoirdupois (U.S.) measurements.

About a million bottles of solution from nine of the 12 lots were originally distributed in the United States. Product from the 12 affected lots was also distributed in Canada, Latin America, Korea and Taiwan, where it is also being recalled.
